This set didn't turn out at all like I had imagined, I mean it's an ok set but I'm disappointed by many of the icons and executing the ideas I had for each artist group just fell flat.
For the most part I used the general 'feeling' I got from the artists work combined as inspiration (well the ones I liked from the inspiration post anyways).

Inspired by Louise LeBourgeois
These I made simple; minimalism (well..there was an attempt), tiny text, lots of negative space and blues.
I don't like how these ended up being rather repetitive but it's too late to try and fix them now. :\

Inspired by SIT (website)
These didn't turn out as I had imagined, especially the far crop ones. I think they would have worked better as larger graphics as the details get lost.
Particular pieces that inspired me the most were these; one, two*, three, four, five.
*directly inspired 6 and 8.

Inspired by Richard Whadcock
Faded(ish) colorsand (at least partial) obscurity...yeah that didn't work out so well.

Inspired by Ian Francis & Fran Williams
I tried to blend these two styles together in a cohesive set but I gave up because nothing was working. So instead, the first two are Ian Francis inspired, 3-5 are inspired by Fran Williams.

Date: 2016-01-26 02:25 pm (UTC)I love the grungy effects and the combination with crops and colours, I don't know how to explain it but the icons are truly emotional.
I'm saving almost all of them, but my absolute favourite ones are:
#1 – perfect composition, the cut-out is amazing and I adore the contrast between background colours and Ygritte. Also, the texture placement is on poin.
#2 – awesome sharpening, great lighting and the tiny text is a very brilliant idea because it gives that something more making the icon more... magical? (Oh gosh I am not so good with words today).
#4 – I just adore it, so ethereal and I just asdfghjkl
#7 and #10 are exceptional. The way you changed their appearance is astonisghing. And it feels like you're portraying the characters' personality? A+++
The colour splash in #8 is an excellent idea (you seriously do wonders) and #9 is pure art.
#12 – simply stunning. The colouring, the shadowing, the crop.. everything is splendid.
The composition in #14 is exceptional, and I love the warmth of the colours and the fact that the cut-out looks natural, it feels like the original background is this one you edited. WOW.
And I adore the crop on the Missandei icon, too.
#18 and #19 are spectacular. :D
