Icon progression 2014

This year was really..boring for me icon wise. I didn't have much or any inspiration so I just stuck to entering challenges. Which I ended up placing in 91 challenges this year which you can see here @ my scrapbook (scroll down). It's nice to see everything in one place because I feel that a lot of my icons this year were misses more than they were hits.

My posting was rather erratic and mostly of just challenge icons I'd done this year or 20inspirations sets. I do like posting that way though, less stress to get something up here even if I don't like it well so I'm probably going to stick to that for now.

I didn't do much of what I wanted to this year which was icon more movies, practice on animated tv & movies and work on text. But I'll try again this next year.

FEBRUARY (Star Wars battle post)


I reallyyy want to do these over again. I do not like how they came out except for the one of Han, that was one of my best this year.

More Star Wars! I seriously could icon these all the time, I had to restrain myself really. Uh anyways, lots of color here this is one of the best posts that shows how I found to best alter the colors in a cap, I do it almost constantly now. Plus lots of vibrancy where ever I can get it to work.

JUNE



THIS. POST. It sucked the creative juices right out of me. Seriously, that was the most intense 20 days I had this year, almost no sleep so many different variations til I got the best one. It was my first 20inspirations set and I really wanted it to be great. Well I did it. ha Everything after this was pretty much crap. I don't really care though because these were a stroke of genius if I do say so myself. If I'm feeling down I go back to this post and tell myself, "see? you can do it!". I'm just really ridiculously proud of those icons.

JULY



Massive dump of 6 months worth of challenge icons. I tried to keep a variety when making icons plus I was testing out a lot of ways to color and to work on lighting. So when I made a large post like this it looks like an utter mess. I can't stick to just one thing, I have to do ALL THE THINGS. I guess that's not a bad thing but it bugs the perfectionist in me that wants everything neat and tidy. haha, NOPE.

JULY #2


My second 20inspirations set. No where near as good as my first and now I only like one or two of them really. I'd rather remake this than anything. As you can see, there was an attempt at text but it failed for the most part. I just can't seem to get it to bend to my will work. I just have to keep plugging away at it, I'll get it eventually.

OCTOBER


Third 20inspirations set before it died again. :( I ended up rushing with this one, everything kept not working out for me and I got frustrated with it and just half assed my way through it. I feel kinda bad about it but oh well. I'll probably redo a lot of these sometime.

NOVEMBER



The rest of my challenge icons from this year plus icons from activities at thetenthgate. I did a lot of close crops and not much else really. But hey I did get 5 icons in there that the text worked out for me so yay!

I think you are being abit hard on yourself sweetie. <3 Your icons are gorgeous and some of them are down right brilliant! You have really improved coloring and texture wise aaannndd at least you keep iconing? I just came back 2 month ago after being away for almost a year with no icons. XD

What a great post <3 I definitely see progress here, and you've produced the kind of icons I can keep staring at for way too long. You've got every aspect of iconning under control, which is also why you place so often ;) I'm looking forward to what you'll make in 2015!

Well I think your icons last year were absolutely stunning from start to finish, so it's sad to hear you see so many flaws in them :/ but, at least you appreciate that seriously fantastic 20insp set from June, it really was spectacular! ♥ but I really adore the colors and texture use in each post, I think you were consistently awesome at those things especially, so I think you should be proud of all of these :)

Yeah idk I just look at them and feel 'bleh' for the majority. lol I'm also feeling really negative lately and that kind of..bleeded into my post more than I realized at the time. Ah well. :P
